VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA

The plan was to spend a relaxing month in Vietnam visiting my friend’s god-daughter, but the visa system changed just before we left. Visitors can only spend 2 weeks there, unless you have a month visa from your own Embassy. We found out when changing planes in Frankfurt and quickly had to book a trip to Cambodia, only just making the onward flight to Vietnam.

We spent time exploring Ho Chi Minh City, Halong Bay, Hoi Ann and Hue and went on a memorable boat trip along the Mekong Delta in the pouring rain! In Cambodia we enjoyed Hanoi, walking around Hoan Kiem Lake, with the backdrop of the Hue Bridge over the water. Friends recommended the wonderful Water Puppets Theatre. There are a wide variety of Museums, Temples, and Buddhist pagodas and shrines. A sunset boat trip along the Tonle Sap River was a good way to view the surrounding districts.
