A Taste of Spanish Street Life
25th November, 2018
A week in Cadiz was a treat of winter colours and daylight until 6pm. A friend teaching English there acting as our guide made everything very easy. We enjoyed a night out watching energetic performances at the local flamenco school, visited Cadiz Archaeology Museum, sampled a variety of tapas and watched spontaneous dancing in the covered market. We spent time wandering along the city beach seafront, climbed the Torre Tavira Observation tower and visited The Castle of Santa Catalina world heritage site which forms a backdrop for many wedding photos. Walking through Genovés Park and garden to The Castle of San Sebastián fortress at the end of La Caleta beach was another outing. One day we visited El Puerto de Santa Maria, sampling local sherry and took a train ride to sunny Seville and tour of the Alcázar royal palace and gardens. Along the winding streets in the old town a couple were posing for photos on a zebra crossing. A final treat was a spa morning in a local hotel, finishing off a relaxing and revitalising week.
