Beat the Heat
26th August, 2019
As today was forecast as being the hottest late August Bank Holiday Monday on record, an early morning circular walk seemed like a good idea. I bumped into 2 friends walking along with their old dog around the shade of the golf course. Whitstable was already busy by 8.30am, people were out swimming, paddle-boarding, exercising the dogs, setting up camp on the beach and in the mood for relaxation. The workers were doing their morning deliveries and the lifeboat was on its way out.
Stall holders were setting up their eclectic wares for the Summer Fair in Whitstable Castle gardens and a few people were already there with their dogs, maybe hoping to enter the dog show.
My final stop was for a photo of Graffiti artist Catman’s work on the side of the Pilgrims Hospice charity shop. ‘Wasted Time’ depicts an hourglass, but instead of sand, it contains a map of the world – which turns into plastic bottles as it trickles down.
